Description

Attention, boaters! Here are all the knots you need to know to head out in your rowboat, sailboat, or motorboat—or maybe you'll even sign up and join the crew of TV's "Below Deck," "Wicked Tuna," or "Deadliest Catch!" Whether you need to keep an anchor in place, provide a skipper with a firm grip on the helm, or secure the tack of a sail, you'll find what you need in John Kelsey's fully illustrated guide. Included are: Bowline Knot, Figure Eight Knot, Square Knot, Tack Knot, Turk's Head Knot, Wall Knot, Overhand Knot, Reef Knot, Monkey's Fist Knot, Crown Knot, Portuguese Bowline Knot, Jug Sling Knot, and many more. Also included are instructions for making a rope ladder and a braided rope lanyard. In addition, if you are a sailor, you will learn how to secure lines with easy bends and hitches, and you'll learn splicing (how to loop or combine ropes permanently). Many of these knots will also be of interest to climbers, hikers, and fisherman. Whether you are a boy scout or girl scout with your knot-tying badge or a first-time boater, you will find a huge amount of knowledge packed into this informational book on knotting.
